UK Boarding School Exhibition – Middle East – Online!

Our second UK Boarding School Exhibition Online focussed on the options available for students progressing to Sixth Form at a UK boarding school.

Parents often ask us about the difference between following an A Level programme or the IB Diploma and which qualification may suit their child better.  We invited Sally Cooper-New, Director of Marketing and Admissions at Malvern College to talk about the differences and how to choose the best option for the individual student as Malvern offer both in the Sixth Form.

A BTEC qualification is also an option for the Sixth Form; these practical and vocational qualifications are increasingly popular.  They offer a breadth of subjects based on industry-specific skills and assessment options.  Dr Josh Bradbury, Head of Sixth Form at Milton Abbey School joined us to talk about the structure and benefits.  Milton Abbey School was voted BTEC school of the Year.

Many students joining UK boarding schools from across the Middle East have been studying an international or US curriculum, they are welcomed at British curriculum schools and adapt quickly to GCSE, A Level or an IB programme.  Some students however want to continue with the US curriculum and preparation for SATs or AP and TASIS The American School in England is a popular option.  We were joined by Sarah Travis, Senior Associate Director at TASIS who explained about the school and applying to university in the US.

Securing ‘UK university Home Fee Status’ is a real concern to expat families with UK and EU passports.  Kate Raison from UK Study Group joined us to provide families with tips, advice and guidance.
