Nurture a Passion for Sport

It's not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters.

Summer Schools offer sports at every level, for those who are there for the fun of it, to those who  would like to make a career out of their chosen sport.  There is a programme for practically every sport, but popular courses include football, horse riding, swimming, golf, hockey and cricket.

Many courses are coached by professional athletes and even Olympians, giving your child the very best instruction as well as teaching them to be part of a new team. Programmes are not all sport, they will also include excursions and social events that will make your child’s time at summer school something they will always remember.

Tennis – Schools with a Tennis Academy offer onsite coaching by a small team of qualified and experienced coaches led by an LTA Senior Performance Coach. The excellent coach to student ratio allows students to work hard at improving their tennis skills as part of a small group, whilst also receiving some individual coaching. Students are assessed on the first day, then put into groups depending on ability and experience. Using the latest coaching techniques, a wide spectrum of abilities from beginner/social player to international standard juniors are catered for. All aspects of the game are covered - tactical, technical, physical and mental. Tournament day at the end of each week

Golf – Is offered by schools with their own specialist facilities or at a local golf club by a highly experienced professional. All aspects of the game are taught on a driving range, pitching/putting greens and on 3, 9 and 18-hole courses. Video analysis is used to help students improve their technique. Advanced players spend most of their time on the course whilst beginners spend half on the range and half on the course. Suitable for both beginners and experienced players.

Horse riding – At on site or local equestrian centre offering a challenging programme for riders of all abilities. All aspects of horse management are covered. You will gain confidence in handling your horse in a variety of situations e.g. hacking, jumping, dressage, cross country.  Students are taught individually or in small groups, split by level, so that they get the very most out of their experience.

Sailing - Learn to Sail with RYA Sailing Courses, or develop your existing skills.  Courses cater from complete beginners to very experienced sailors covering RYA level 1 to 4, as well as Seamanship and racing courses. Pupils can sail in a range of dinghies, according to wind conditions and skill levels. Pupils are split on ability and the ratio is six pupils to each instructor.  Students can expect a hands-on, fun, and engaging experience. They will push their personal boundaries, develop new skills and become more confident on the water learning resilience and self-confidence.

Football – At Academy level is for students of intermediate, advanced or professional level.  The programme includes 13 hours of English and at least 12 hours of football training per week.   Players will take part in tactical, technical, physical and psychological sessions and workshops, supported by high-performance training, video analysis, Sports Science workshops, live Q&As, masterclasses and an individualised technical report.  Facilities include well-maintained playing fields, artificial pitches, multi-purpose sports hall, swimming pool, professional gym and analysis rooms.  Players will undergo numerous assessments which cover speed, strength, agility and power and take part in 'in-house’ competitive fixtures.
