Sherborne School

Senior school for boys, Dorset

Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls, two leading independent schools located alongside one another in a welcoming Dorset town, have formed a strong partnership under the ethos of ‘Separate yet together.’ This relationship makes the schools unique, offering a very different kind of single-sex education in which pupils have the benefit of single-sex classrooms and boarding houses, but also have far greater access to joint activities across music, sport, clubs, and social opportunities than they otherwise would.

Founded by King Edward VI in 1550, Sherborne School is a full boarding and day school for boys. It has eight boarding houses and opens a new state-of-the-art Sports Hall this year. It merged with co-educational Sherborne Prep in 2021.

The Sherborne Schools offer a first-class academic education; through inspiring teaching, we engage and guide each pupil to pursue academic excellence and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. Sherborne is a strong community and lies in the beautiful Dorset countryside with a direct train to and from London Waterloo.
