Gordonstoun

Combined co-education school in Elgin, Moray

There is no school in the world quite like Gordonstoun. Founded by Kurt Hahn, one of education’s greatest innovators, the school leads the way in experiential education.

Gordonstoun students follow the English National Curriculum of GCSE, A Level and BTECs and go on to impressive university destinations including Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, King’s College and further afield to Tufts University, Carnegie Mellon, Bocconi, and the University of Vienna.

The school’s stunning location on the sunny Moray Coast in Northern Scotland provides the background for Gordonstoun’s outstanding co-curricular education programme. Through expeditions and sail training voyages Gordonstoun students gain invaluable experience in being both leaders and team players and in developing compassion and understanding for others and of themselves. Their outlook is broadened, their ability to consider the needs of others developed, and they gain self-confidence and resilience – life skills from outside classroom which help inform their endeavours and achievements inside the classroom. Service to others also comprises a core part of Gordonstoun’s ‘working week’. This includes the Fire Service, where older students respond to genuine emergencies. The school welcomes students from over 40 different nationalities to its close-knit, diverse and dynamic global community.

Gordonstoun has been described as ‘outstanding’ and ‘sector leading’ by HM Inspectors.
