Cheltenham College

Combined co-education school in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Based at the heart of a Cotswolds spa town, Cheltenham College is a day and boarding school for girls and boys aged from 3-18. Our pupils receive a modern first class all-round education that supports them to discover and fulfil their potential. Life at College offers the opportunity to spark and develop interests in a variety of areas in the classroom, on the sports pitches, the stage and beyond.

Cheltenham College has a long and distinguished connection with the military dating back to 1862. It is a connection and understanding that remains just as strong today. We understand the unique challenges that military families face when choosing how and where to educate their children. Each of our 11 Boarding Houses is led by a Housemaster or Housemistress who is resident in the House, something that helps to create a warm, family environment. Each House has an equal amount of year groups within it, with pupils of all ages socialising, mentoring and supporting each other throughout College life. This creates an environment that alleviates homesickness and encourages strong friendships while also fostering a deep sense of House honour and loyalty.

Whilst completing the Tatler Schools Guide 2024 Parents’ Questionnaire, a parent of a Cheltenham College pupil said, “College manages to create a strong family atmosphere as well as encouraging achievement and excellence. My daughter has flourished, as a person and as a student and has been brilliantly supported in every aspect of her school life.” Cheltenham College was recently recognised as Independent Boarding School of the Year by Independent School Parent. The award, published in ‘The Guide to Independent Schools’ Autumn 2022, commended Cheltenham College for providing pupils with a vibrant and life-enhancing experience which meets the needs of pupils and their families.

We hope to welcome you to tour Cheltenham College soon.
